TRUE STORY!

A VERY TOUCHING STORY THAT HAPPENED IN UGANDA

My name is Harriet Namayengo, I’m 40 years old and i come from Lugazi, Uganda. I’m a married lady but with no children. I've written this letter to fans of this page to share with you my pain that I’ve always lived with. It’s pain of childlessness that was inflicted upon me by my heartless co-wife.

It all happened 12 years ago. I had just completed my Nursing course and i was working in one of the missionary hospitals in Uganda. While still at school, i fell in love with James, a medical officer in Eastern Uganda. James was such a nice man that he always visited me at school and showered me with so many presents. This honestly convinced me that he was single as he had told me.

While in my last year at the Nursing school, i got pregnant and so James arranged for our wedding, I had already been assured a job at the hospital, he decided to put me in his house in Kampala. The shock of my life however came shortly after i gave birth to my baby gal. It was then that James disclosed to me that he was so excited coz i had finally given him a baby gal since he had 5 sons. I was surprised and when i told him to repeat what he had said; he apologized and said it was a mistake.

I could see it in his eyes that he was hiding something from me so i probed him further. This is when he told me that he was actually married and had a wife with 5 sons. I was disappointed but confused since i loved James so much.

He organized a meeting in which he introduced to me his first wife. At first my co-wife pretended to be so nice, which shocked me. My co-wife began frequenting my home claiming that she wanted to see James. This was so frustrating coz James had a time table for both of us.

Her intentions however cruelly manifested when on coming back one day, i found my baby missing. I called my maid and asked her where the baby was, she told me she had left her at home (my home) with Mama Davis (my co-wife). My blood soon ran cold when i landed on a note from my co-wife that instructed me to check in the kitchen for my surprise ‘GIFT’. My intuition told me there was a problem and indeed i was right.

On reaching the kitchen, i smelt a burning meat. There was a big sauce pan on the cooker and upon opening it, i saw my baby boiling. This surely was the scariest sight I’ve been subjected to in my whole life. Ever since that day, I’ve never seen my co-wife again though i heard that she had ran mad and was roaming on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya. I'm haunted by the image of my daughter. I now hate men and decided never to fall in love again.

Improve your look

Beauty and diet secrets to help you look good

From bloat-inducing foods to avoid, to fast and cheap beauty routines you can do at home, check out these simple ways to look good from head to toe. If you've got a big event ahead and want to look good and feel good,  there are many tips and secrets to help you achieve that beautiful body.

Have a last-minute quick workout

While regular exercise is the best route to a great body, some last-minute toning before a big event can help your body look better. To emphasise any muscles on show and/or stomach muscles, give them a workout with some last-minute targeted exercises, such as sit-ups, lunges and bicep curls. The rush of blood to your muscles will temporarily tighten them up to leave them looking more defined. Not only that, the endorphins released by exercise will help you feel more self-confident.

Avoid gas and bloat-inducing foods

Although the best route to a flat stomach is an ongoing regime of healthy eating and exercise, you can cheat your way to a svelter frame prior to a special event with some careful eating. To prevent bloating, on the day of your big event limit your intake of high-fibre foods, such as certain fruit and veg, beans and grains, which are renowned for causing intestinal gas. Also avoid salt, carbonated drinks and chewing gum, all of which can cause bloating and prevent your looking your best.

Stock up on tummy-flattening foods

As well as avoiding certain foods, there are several foods you can add into your diet to keep your tummy looking fat To counteract bloating caused by salt overload in your diet, up your intake of potassium-rich foods such as bananas and dried fruit. Alternatively, get rid of excess gas by supplementing your meals with digestive enzymes (such as papain and bromelain) and taking charcoal capsules, which can help to soak up the gas and toxins that lead to bloating. So you can eat your way to looking good.

Don some slimming underwear

While it may be 'cheating', we're betting there isn't a celeb out there who hasn't employed a bit of help in the underwear department to help them look good. If you’re looking to smooth out lumps or bumps, treat yourself to some slimming underwear to pull in any wobbly bits. Alternately, try a push up bra to help create a great cleavage or some padded knickers for a more voluptuous derriere. To further flatter your figure, try dressing in black or, at the least, solid block colors.

Become a bronzed beauty with fake tan

Not only will a wash of colour make you look slimmer, but fake tan can also help disguise cellulite and blemishes and give you that A-list glow. Furthermore, with a bit of strategic bronzing you can easily create the illusion of a better body. To create the appearance of slimmer legs, apply a bit of bronzer down the sides of your legs and some shimmer lotion down your shins. For a better cleavage, dust some bronzer between your breasts and blend to create the illusion of shadow.

Get a celebrity smile

If your pearly whites are looking a little off-colour, you can still pull off a dazzling smile with a couple of sneaky tricks. Firstly, to make your teeth look whiter, try using a cool-toned red or pink lipstick with blue undertones, and steer clear of yellow or orange toned lipsticks which will emphasise yellow teeth. Secondly, dust a bit of bronzer on your face, which will not only give you a healthy glow but will also make your teeth stand out and give them a brighter whiter appearance.

Create a flawless complexion

Spots have an annoying habit of popping up when they are least wanted, but the good news is there are many things you can do to create the illusion of perfect skin. If you have an inflamed, hard-to-cover spot, try applying an ice cube to the area for a couple of minutes before applying makeup, which will reduce the inflammation. To conceal and counteract redness, apply some green concealer or a bit of white eyeliner to the spot, under your usual makeup

ways to be a better parent

Make clear rules

Parents often have very different views about how they want to discipline their children and what behaviour warrants punishment. To overcome these issues, sit down with those that look after your child a lot. Write down key rules that you would like your child to follow; choose no more than 10. Together, you should then decide how you will punish each rule that is broken. Teamwork is essential when it comes to good discipline. Make sure you explain each rule to your child; you could even make a rule board and put it up in your house.

Listen

Between making breakfast, cleaning the house and getting your kids to brush their teeth it can be hard to find the time to listen. Try to prioritise though. Will your kids be thankful that they had perfectly neat and ironed clothes, or will they remember that time you sat down and really listened to what they had to say? Children often live in secretive worlds, so when they decide to share something, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, it can be a big deal to them. You could try to get into a routine of asking your kids questions about their day, their friends or a game they like playing.

Have fun

Although rules are important, your kids will respect you a lot more if you spend time having fun with them too. Choose to do an activity they enjoy – if they are young play an imaginary, creative game with them. You could pretend to be pirates or jungle explorers and go on an adventure around the house. If they are a little older do a one-on-one activity with just them. You could go skating, have a pamper afternoon or have an active day out. The activity you choose doesn’t have to be expensive, it just has to interest them and be done on a regular basis.

Trust

Trust is something that doesn’t come easily to most parents. We worry that they won’t look to cross the road, that they might make the wrong friends or that they will get into trouble. However, trust is essential to make any relationship work and moreover it gives your kids the freedom to explore and learn about life for themselves. It is likely that at some point they will make mistakes, but they will also learn from those mistakes. Plus, trust gives you something to bargain with. They can have some freedom if they behave, and if they don’t then it’s taken away.

Be firm

A lot of parents find it hard to discipline their child even though, deep down, they know that the child needs to be punished. A horrible mix of guilt and despair makes discipline a difficult issue. However, by punishing them you are instilling good behaviour and strong morals.  Once you have decided what rules you would like your children to follow, make sure that every time one of those key rules is broken there is a consequence to their actions. It is essential to be firm and consistent. Giving your child an explanation about why you have certain rules also helps them understand your actions.

Get organised

Parenting is the biggest time squeeze. You get up earlier and earlier and go to bed later and later, yet still there is no time left. The only way you combat the time hoarder that is parenting is to get organised. Get charts, alarms and bright pens. Instil a strong routine and get your kids to do a few chores. Another way to massively cut down on your chore time is to cook big batches of meals at once. You could make large quantities of soups, chillies or stews and then freeze them. They’re like cost-effective, healthy ready meals.

Show you care

Being a parent is hard work, but the rewards can be huge too. If you find it difficult to find ways of showing your child that you care maybe you could write them a little letter explaining why you think they’re great. Or you could write down eight reasons why you love them and put them on post-it notes. Hide these notes all over the house and ask your child to hunt them down. Sometimes it can be easy to buy children gifts when you want to let them know you love them, but emotional attention is a much clearer, stronger message.

Stay calm

No-one in the world can wind you up more than your kids. They can drive you wild and after very little sleep it can be easy to blow up with anger. Showing you’re angry won’t help the situation though and your child will also learn to be angry. To stay calm, first find out why your child is acting up and address the causes of their behaviour. If you are too angry to deal with the situation try to work out a technique that calms you. You could leave the room, inhale deeply, visualise a relaxing environment or just sip some water.

Don’t compare

Every family is different as every child is different. Don’t get caught up in the competitive side of parenting for your child’s sake and yours. A healthy amount of encouragement is good and can have a positive impact upon your child’s development, but getting too pushy will drive your children away, make them unhappy and may cause resentment. If you want to give your kids drive then set some achievable targets, let them have a say in what they do and give them a break. Never blame them if they fail, but remind them they achieved something by giving it a go.

Keep them active

If kids are inactive they will get restless, bored and frustrated.  In Britain, nearly 2.4 million children are overweight or obese. Your child should be active for at least one hour a day. You can sign them up for a team sport or a dance class, but a lot of kids don’t like organised sport. Instead you could take them to a playground, play active games outside with them or go swimming. You can buy them active toys instead of computer games or DVDs, such as a bike or skates. Going for walks is also an easy way to get your child up and active.

Alcoholic Effect on your health

What effect does alcohol have on your health? Well, you go to the gym three times a week, never take sugar in your tea and try to eat healthily — so why can’t you get rid of that excess stomach flab? It could be down to drinking too much booze.
If you think this may be the case, then check out realbuzz.com’s article on alcohol and calories — and find out for sure!

A hidden source of calories

With seven calories per gram and a single unit of alcohol weighing 8g, alcohol is one of the greatest hidden sources of calories in our diets. For example, that tiny splash of vodka in the bottom of the glass contains 56 calories before you even think of adding a mixer, while a pint of bitter weighs in at 175 calories, a 440ml can of premium lager at 260, and a 175ml glass of red wine (the standard pub measurement) at 115 calories. Even if you stick within the recommended maximum alcohol intake (14 units per week for women and 21 a week for men), you could be unwittingly adding 800 to 1200 liquid calories to your calorie intake! And sadly, they aren’t calories you can simply ‘burn off.’
Why is this? It’s because alcohol cannot be used directly by the muscles, and instead travels straight into the bloodstream, from where it has to be metabolised before the body can make use of more preferable fuel sources, such as carbohydrate or fat. According to the Journal of Endurance, fat-burning and protein synthesis are lowered by as much as 20 per cent while the body is digesting and metabolising alcohol. It takes roughly an hour for each unit of alcohol to be metabolised. Consume it too regularly and research shows that alcohol will suppress fat oxidation and promote fat storagethe exact opposite of what you want! And — even worse — this excess fat tends to accumulate around the waist, thereby creating the proverbial beer belly.

Alcohol and lifestyle

It’s not just the drinks themselves that could be expanding your waistline, but the lifestyle habits that tend to go with them. A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that a single pre-lunch wine or beer can result in an increased calorie intake over the next 24 hours! Researchers don’t know whether this is due to an increase in appetite or a decrease in willpower and inhibitions, or a combination of the two. But most of us are familiar with that ‘Oh, what the hell!’ feeling after a few drinks, and have found ourselves chomping down kebabs, curries and chips to help ‘mop up’ the excess booze! The researchers in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also found that higher alcohol consumption is associated with less healthy eating habits in generalparticularly a higher intake of cholesterol, fatty acids and animal products (kebab, anyone?).
The other way booze might be affecting your body is by hampering your workouts. If you exercise the morning after a drinking session, you may experience a higher perception of effort, palpitations and a lower exercise capacityso you probably won’t end up working as hard or as long as you normally would. (Also, you shouldn’t force yourself to exercise with a hangover as a punishment to yourself anyway. You are best off resting and drinking plenty of water or isotonic drinks until you feel better.) Equally, it’s not wise to drink straight after a heavy training session, as alcohol has been shown to interfere with muscle repair and recovery.

Drinking and staying healthy

Of course, all this doesn’t mean that you have to call time on your drinking habit, as it’s quite possible to drink moderately and remain fit and healthy. But if you are watching your weight, or attempting to lose body fat, it’s worth keeping a drink diary to see whether an inordinate percentage of your energy intake is coming from alcohol. Government statistics show that for the average UK citizen, alcohol accounts for around 5% of overall calorie intake — which is the equivalent of 125 calories if you eat 2500 calories per day. Find out how your boozing measures up, and whether it could be undermining your attempts to stay in shape, by keeping a diary and checking out the following table:

How to increase your lifespan

10 ways to live to 100: Eat foods that boost your lifespan

Eat foods that boost your lifespan

If you want to increase your life expectancy, try eating nutrient-rich foods such as fruit and vegetables and plenty of oily fish. Oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel, sardines and trout, are a good source of vitamins A and D, which are good for the immune system, and omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to a lowered risk of heart disease and stroke. For a tasty way to increase your life expectancy, you could also try snacking on antioxidant-rich dark chocolate, which can lower your risk of heart disease. Jeanne Louise Calment, who lived a grand total of 122 years and 164 days, put her good health in part down to her regular chocolate consumption.

Learn how to deal with stress

Stress affects just about every aspect of our health. As well as its mental and emotional implications, stress can contribute to high blood pressure and weight gain, and a study by Pennsylvania State University researchers has found that how you deal with stress can affect your health up to 10 years later. To stay healthy into old age, try to find effective ways to deal with stress, such as exercise, meditation and using relaxing essential oils such as chamomile, lavender and bergamot.

Think yourself young

While ageing is an inevitable part of life, research by psychologist Ellen Langer has demonstrated that it may be possible to think yourself younger. Her ground-breaking experiment found that when elderly participants were treated as physically capable and encouraged to think of themselves in this way, their bodies actually followed suit, with tests showing remarkable improvement in many areas, including dexterity, speed of movement, memory, arthritis and blood pressure. Try to adopt a younger, more positive mindset to stay physically and mentally younger for longer.

Become a volunteer

Not only is volunteering good for boosting your emotional wellbeing and creating social bonds, research results published in the journal Health Psychology have also found that taking on voluntary work could help you to live longer. However, the study revealed that your motives need to be right in order to reap the rewards, as people who volunteered in order to help others – rather than for their own personal satisfaction – were found to live longer than those who didn’t.

Quit smoking

Smoking is one of the world’s biggest killers and is a cause of many chronic and life-threatening diseases, including cancer and heart disease. In fact, statistics show that approximately every six seconds, someone dies due to tobacco. To increase your life expectancy and quality of life, try to quit smoking now. The good news is, experts have found that the risk of having a heart attack decreases within just 24 hours of quitting smoking.

Stay active

Hands up if you’re guilty of sitting down at a desk or in front of a television screen for several hours each day! The truth is, most of us spend far too long sat in front of a screen and not nearly enough hours on our feet. However, researchers from the University of Queensland have found that for every hour you watch TV you may shorten your life by as much 22 minutes! To increase your health and life expectancy, try heading out for a walk after your evening meal rather than settling down for a TV marathon. Research results published in the journal PLoS Medicine indicate that walking a total of just two and a half hours a week could add more than seven years to your life.

Have regular health checks

Many of us have a head-in-the-sand approach to our health and are guilty of ignoring symptoms we should really get checked out. However, it is never worth taking a chance on your health. Look after your body and help to extend your life expectancy by visiting your doctor about any concerns you may have and making time for regular health checks such as cervical smear tests for women and blood pressure checks. Men should also make sure they regularly check themselves for signs of testicular cancer, while women should check their breasts for signs of breast cancer.

Laugh more

One of the most fun ways to make it to 100 is to work more laughter into your life. Studies have found a multitude of ways in which laughter boosts your health, including lowering blood pressure levels, reducing bad cholesterol, enhancing the immune system and helping blood vessels to function better. A study in Norway also found that those who laughed most often in everyday life were 35 per cent less likely to die during the study period.

Get more sleep

The powers of a good night’s sleep are often underestimated; however, getting enough sleep is essential for good health. Researchers have found that the hormonal changes resulting from a lack of sleep trigger changes in the body similar to ageing, meaning that ongoing sleep deprivation could exacerbate age-related conditions such as obesity and diabetes. Lack of sleep can also increase stress levels, which is bad news for our health. To boost your wellbeing, try to make sleep a priority and adopt good sleeping habits; going to bed and getting up at the same time each day.

Improve your social life

If you want to live to 100, it’s worth taking some time to nurture your friendships. Research suggests that having regular contact with your friends can help you to live longer by reducing feelings of depression, stress and risky behaviour, and encouraging you to look after your health. In fact, a study by Brigham Young University found that having few friends affects your longevity as much as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Bonding with your co-workers is also a good idea, as research by Tel Aviv University found that having social support from colleagues reduced participants’ risk of death from any cause over the 20 year study period.

MOTHER CARING

Juliet is a girl I met in the bus when I was
travelingto Lagos. She was seating in the
front seat of the bus as I was in the back
seat.
I was so much interested to her and at
Lunch break, I decided to approached
her for a talk.
We talked for few minutes as we
exchanged our phone numbers.
Since then, we used to talk and chat
every night, and shared ideas.
One day i decided say the word ♥ "love"
♥ to her.
She had no objection to that and we
planned for a date.
I asked her if it could be possible we visit
our parents.
But Since she was a buzy lady, working in
National Bank, she just replied, "it would
not be possible"
I stayed with her for seven year in town.
Without even getting kids.
We lived a happy life that I forgot about
my PARENTS and the family.
One day, I got seriously sick, and i was
admitted at the general hospital.
Juliet thought i was infected with H.I.V
AIDS because i was very weak.
So, She decided to run away and left me
at the hospital to die.
My MOM came to rescue me, I don't
know how or who told her that I was
sick.
She attended to me until I got well.
When I returned to my house, that I used
to stay with Juliet, I was shocked to find
that all my properties were missing and
the house was empty.
I tried to reach police for invention... And
after investigation they told me that
Juliet had taken her property.
They also told me that, "according to the
investigation, I owned nothing."
My MOM took me to the Village and
accepted me as his LOST SON. :'(
MORAL LESSON:
Some times people may come to our life,
but we should know who are true friends
and who are not.
NOTE:
Blood is stronger than water. So, we
should never forget our Mother, they are
GREAT BLESSING TO US.
 "I LOVE U MOM"
